Armed Men Tie Up Victims, Steal $40,000 From Home In Jamaica: NYPD

Feb. 22, 2021 By Christina Santucci

Three armed intruders made off with $40,000 in cash Friday evening after they stormed onto a property in Jamaica, tied up four people and pistol-whipped another, police said.

The masked gunmen entered the backyard of a home near 146th Street and 116th Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. through an open side entrance, and then pulled out handguns, the NYPD said.

The intruders told five people who had gathered in the yard around a heat lamp to lie on the ground, according to cops. Disturbing video released by police showed four victims face down on the ground with their wrists zip tied together.

One of the robbers brought a 43-year-old man inside the house and asked him, “Where’s the money?” before bashing him in the head with a gun, police said. The intruders then ransacked the home and fled with the cash, according to the NYPD. The armed trio was last seen on 116th Avenue.

The pistol whipped man suffered an injury to his face but refused medical attention, and no one else was injured.

Police described all three gunmen as having dark complexions and wearing face masks. Two had thin builds, while one had a heavy build, and one was carrying a duffle bag, according to cops.

The NYPD asked anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips online.
