Police Investigating Death of 78-Year-Old Woman Found Inside Queens Village Apartment : NYPD

The police are investigating the death of a 78-year-old woman who was found dead with a cut to her head inside her apartment in Queens Village Wednesday.

Maria Diaz was discovered after police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious woman inside 218-44 Hillside Ave., at around 7:50 p.m., according to police.

Cops found Diaz lying unconscious and unresponsive inside a bedroom on the second floor with a cut to her head. The apartment is located above a deli.

EMS responded to the scene and pronounced her dead at the location.

A police spokesperson said it looks like she was the victim of foul play and that cops are waiting on CCTV footage.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
