Mar. 22, 2024 By Bill Parry Detectives at the 113th Precinct in Jamaica are investigating a fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in Springfield Gardens on Thursday. Police responded to a 911 call of a shooting victim at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center just before 10:30 p.m., where they were met by medical personnel who told them that the victim had been transported there by private means with a gunshot wound to his chest. Feb. 23, 2024 By Gabriele Holtermann The gym at J-CAP, a bilingual residential drug treatment program for adults and young adults in Jamaica, Queens, was abuzz on Wednesday when the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau hosted a powerlifting and basketball competition for cops, kids, and the community during winter recess. The DJs of Radio Hot 97 kept the crowd pumped and also handed out free shirts, cups, and bags.
